If you like your present insurance, you can keep it. Period.
Please notice that there were no "ifs, ands and buts." This was a major declarative statement that was underscored by "PERIOD." And, if the president knew that what he said was never going to come to pass, then he flat-out lied to the American people.
Now, attempting to weasel out of his lie, he engages in mental gymnastics by insisting that he meant all along that, if Americans liked the coverage they have, they can keep it, IF it conforms to the standards set by Obamacare. As for those health care policies that people wanted to keep but now cannot, they were in reality "sub-standard policies" sold by "bad apple companies." But, to reiterate, none of his pronouncements was qualified by an "IF."
Excuses, excuses and more excuses! This presidency has been characterized by constant excuse-making. When will Barack Hussein Obama ever "man-up" and simply say," I'm sorry, because I really screwed up"?
Then, following the most recent disgraceful bit of presidential mendacity, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen "Ice Queen Katy" Sebilius revealed that the program setting up training for "navigators," or those personnel charged with assisting individuals attempting to make their way through the swamp of HealthCare.gov and Obamacare, did not include background checks on the trainees. In effect, this oversight opened the door to the potential for fraud, which could possibly be perpetrated by unscrupulous navigators who might profit from access to Social Security numbers and other private information. Not only does this monstrosity not work, it has a strong potential of exposing Americans to theft.
At this point, a probable scenario for Obamacare goes something like this. If the website and call-centers ever work efficiently, it is likely that the preponderance of those enrolling will come from the ranks of the poor, old, and sick, people whose enrollments will be subsidized by our government. The young and healthy, who will "pay out the nose" for coverage - and whose policies will not be subsidized - will be reluctant to sign up, and funds flowing from this cohort will simply not be there to carry the system. This means that the costs of policies will rise, and to perpetuate Obamacare, taxes will rise. Individuals will try to avoid Obamacare by paying a modest penalty, many of the insurance companies that were counting on selling Obamacare policies will go out of business, and Americans will be faced with a horrible choice: Either they can pay exorbitant rates for coverage, or they can throw up their hands and allow the bureaucrats to run a single-payer system, thus abdicating total control of health care in the United States to government, which is what Obama and the leftists wanted all along.
Domestic policy was supposed to be this president's strong suit. If that's true, then little wonder the United States is faltering on the international scene. Eventually, somebody is going to have to pick up the pieces from the fallout of this failed presidency. And, if we are really concerned about the health of America, Obamacare is only a symptom of a very serious disease. And that disease, dear readers, is socialism.
Deo vindice!
God bless Texas, and may the Lone Star State remain forever red!
